Following the success of the Mercedes 170 SD from Automotores Fangio, the first reference in Slot Classic Transport, we present the second reference in this line: the Alfa Romeo 2 Autotutto minibus, with “Assistenza Corse” livery is an exquisite model from Slot Classic and will enhance any collection.
The same engine family used in the Giulietta was employed: a 1.3-liter, four-cylinder, in-line gasoline engine with double overhead camshafts that produced 35 hp and propelled the Autotutto to 97 km/h. Alternatively, there was a two-cylinder, two-stroke diesel engine with a Roots-type supercharger, created in Austria by AVL, which delivered 30 hp and a top speed of 75 km/h.
The Romeo 2 appeared in 1957/58, without significant changes. It came standard with easy access to the cargo area via a large rear door and a side door on the passenger side. It was primarily used for government agencies, ambulances, police, the military, etc.
It was manufactured in Italy as a minibus and used by the “protezione Civile,” a government organization providing support in the event of natural disasters. These types of vehicles had a tough life, so very few have survived to this day; this is one of them. Thanks to the meticulous and respectful restoration work it underwent, we can now enjoy its friendly and functional 1950s design.
